# RUNE

> RUNE is a tool that combines visual workflow design, AI integration, and desktop-native performance. It lets users automate anything by building workflows that can run on any machine and  be incorporated in AI workflow. AI agents can read workflow schemas and execute them with the built-in MCP server.

Important notes:
- RUNE is an acronym for Routing & Utility Node Editor
- RUNE Interface is the GUI application
- RUNE CLI is the CLI application
- Lua can be used to script custom nodes
- Native plugins can be created with C/C++ and loaded as dynamic libraries
